Um.
I went to AX 09 (Anime Expo) on Saturday and Sunday.
A friend of mine from the SCA asked if I would be in her skit for the Expo. And I said yes. The skit was a part of a costume contest thing. First the costumes are Judged by themselves, then your group performs a skit later that night. It was a very long day. I didn't really get to see any of the expo as my day was mostly spent helping the others in the group fix, put on their costumes, and sit guarding our stuff. I really don't like putting out other peoples fires. We were the Brawler Babes (the chicks from Smash Brothers Brawl). We had Zelda, Samus (Metroid), Princess Peach, and the female Ice Climber (me). We looked awesome and our skit went really well for not having actually gotten to practice it.
I did have some fun but tensions were high and that really wears me out. I'm already scheming for next year, but I only want to do it if I can enjoy the con. Its way too expensive to spend an entire day not getting do explore.
The costumes some of the people put together were ridiculously awesome. The work that had to have gone into some of the feather wings was staggering.
We didn't win, but that's cool. Its not due to any lack of skill or attention to detail. Just the way the cookie crumbles.
