Class
So I went to Script Supervising Class today.
AWESOME.
I'm all signed up for the course. I was debating whether or not to take the accelerated course but after consultation with my parents, I didn't think that it was worth the extra huge chunk of cash. One months vs. two and a half months of classes.
I'm really excited about the course, and by taking the extended course I should have the time to finish Mercator.
How many times have I said that? But he's coming.
The sad thing is I won't be able to go to very many SCA events for a couple of months.

Gossip
Just not all that into it.
Don't see the point of knowing everyone else's business. And from what I've seen it only causes problems.
Of course I'm not all that into a lot of things. Like... relationships in general.
You know what I mean.

No Shield
So still no shield. I was hoping someone would bring it to fighter practice.
No luck, but there really weren't that many people at practice and none really that were there last week that I hadn't already seen.
I'm ok with it.
Tomorrow I'm going to go buy a piece of Aircraft aluminum and make my own by next fighter practice...

Swift
Boy, the last couple of months have flown by. All except for last week.
Ah, well. We'll just have to see how thing pan out for this week.
I didn't get a chapter done, I was too busy feeling sorry for myself.
My goal for the week is to apply for at least three part-time jobs and finish two chapters.
Good goals.
I am also considering recording Mercator as an audio podcast.

gold elements
remnants
against my skin
memories half lost
surface again
as much me

seldom left
never forgot
old old painful thoughts

Shittiest Day
I am having the shittiest day. (Two actually.)
Not only have I lost my shield, which obviously has been sending me into circles of grief.
No lunch with Jennifer due to tight security at the stage where they're filming.
ANNNNND...
my car is dead.
When I went over to Burbank to check for the off chance that perhaps my shield was still sitting by the curb it was raining and I had my lights and wipers going.
Because I'm a fucking moron I left my lights on when I got back and now Vincent is without battery power. :( And none of the construction guys next door had jumper cables.
Oh, and coincidentally. They're checking parking violations. The guy came by yesterday right when I was getting back from buying milk and salad, and today when I discovered my battery was dead. He wouldn't help me either.
So. I ordered a pizza and coke from Papa Johns to drown my sorrows. Good thing I'm all out of Rum.
After I eat my Pizza I'm walking to OSH and buying a portable jumper thing (there's actually one in the garage, but it's all out of juice--figures) and some cables. Given the number of times I've needed them I should already have some, but like I've said I'm a fucking idiot.
The only thing good about today has been the rain and the earthquake.
Oh, God PLEASE let me get my shield back. :(

*whine*
I went back to the park this morning and of course my shield wasn't where it would have been. And no one answered their doors at the houses I tried.
I hate myself for this.
Now I don't have a shield. And I adored that shield...

crapcrapcrapcrapcrap
My shield isn't in my car.
I think I left it at fighter practice next to where my car was parked.
Needless to say, I'm sort of starting to panic a little about it.
It was given to me.
Crap.
More than just about anything else in the world I hate losing things that are gifts.

Heart full of fallen stars
You sewed the stars for me
tell me how I’ll ever be
happy
happy again
broken before we began
the story a tale of man
stooped and startled
flame against the night
and we were happy
happy again
the stars you held singing in your hand
but the sky broke
and I felt the poke
of fates stealing my heart
their fingers tearing it apart
I knew that when
you sewed the stars for me
that there would never be
a day that I could be happy
without you
tell me how I’ll ever be
happy
happy again
tell me how I’ll ever be
happy

Go away
Go away stupid nerves.
I'm starting to get nervous again.
But in other news I picked up an application to work at Trader Joes. They're not hiring until midway through next month. So I'll have to wait until then to turn it in...darn.:P
But I did strip and paint my shield today. I've only got a little bit of painting left on it.
But I can't get my helmet to go together right.
suxors.

Application
Now I can officially say that I HAVE been looking for a job...
I just submitted an online form to Costco.
I did this about a year ago too.
They never got back to me, I wouldn't be surprised if I am just as unemployable now as I was then...
darn.

Writing
The Golden Globe awards are on.
so what?
I'm too busy writing.
do I care at all?
I must say that I'm more curious to observe the people's reaction and the background than who is winning what.
do I want one?
not really, but I hope that my work is of a quality someday that it would be considered among the best to come out in that year.
pause.
think.
i think that i can honestly say that i am more excited by leaps and bounds about the prospect of telling the stories than any reward they might receive should those who are responsible for such thing consider my work.
my work.
right.
like i'm that creative. I cannot imagine that I am actually responsible for the ideas that I come up with.
I go back and look at the things that I have already made/drawn/written/filmed and am incredulous that it could have been done by me. but at the same time I know I could have made it better.
I have said often that I hate being at the beginning of things. It is the middle that I like best. When I'm caught up in the doing of something creative and engaging.
where was i going with this, and why can't i seem to be consistent in my capitalization?
nowhere, just like always.

Ways
I am going to completely rewrite and re-do Untrodden Ways.
Not too soon, but I'm letting ideas ferment.
I can make it better and I will. It may just be my indie masterpiece.
The idea of the journey through the places between is golden, and I like the feel I get from my original story, but it needs polishing. I need to know the main character better. I need to develop her background and personality more and especially her reasons for self destruction.
My original worked very well for the stage and screen, even with its confusing and muddled bits, but as a straight film it needs work, or at least a reshoot.
The thing is, is that the film part was completely retooled from the original script. There are whole chunks missing or improvised for lack of actors or having to deal with one of my mains basically flaking out on me.
It is a miracle that it came together as well as it did. Literally, I'm either a freaking genius or God did it. And I'm not willing to chance the flames.
But as "cool" as it is, I know I can make it absolutely freaking awesome. A true cult classic.

Rewrite
I've decided that the last three chapters I have been working on have to go. Actually, only one has to go. The other two come about 5 chapters later than I thought.
If I go the route I think I will. This book is going to be a third longer that it was a week ago.
An epic intro for Little Mr. M who has a heck of a lot more to go through after this book.
I may be overly optimistic, but I cannot imagine that some publisher won't want Mercator.
The crux is just getting someone to pay attention long enough to get hooked.
In other news...
Hopefully by the end of the month I'll be ready to launch The Rock Wanderer: Urban Geologist on the world with a couple of episodes.
I brought my Geomorphology, Petrology, and Structural Geology books back with me.
I'm a little...damn, can't think of a clever "rock" thingie to put here. Needless to say that my less than impressive Rock skills need some polishing...
polishing!
HA!

SSSShhhhhit
I'm overdrawn on my checking account.
This wouldn't be a problem if I could have transferred the thousands of dollars into it that I had intended to from my bank in MO, but you know what? It didn't happen.
So now what? Is my credit screwed even though I've got more than enough money.
I've got a check with me to deposit, but that doesn't do me any good now does it?
And it wouldn't be a problem, but I had to buy my and my dad's Christmas GPS on my card, so there was a $300 unexpected transaction.
Shit. I was afraid that this would happen.
