Shadowman- the title of the flick I just got off of on Wed. The crew was great. Much better and more smooth running than the one from my second show.
I totally messed up, though. It was only on the first day, so I don't have to feel too bad about it. I honestly thought the shoot started on Wed the 27th, but lo and behold it started on Tue the 26th. Oops.
It's not fun to be woken up at 8:30am by the producer wondering where you are. Or the resulting panic that follows realizing that you are completely unprepared for the day. So, jump out of bed and frantically try to make your printer and computer play nicely so that you can get the script preped in 15 min to head out the door. Only to realize once you get on to set that they never gave you the most recent version of the script, which isn't even reeally the shooting script. Nice. So basically you just struggle through the first couple of days almost faking it, but when you're good you still don't have to fake it... Yeah I'm goooood. Anyway.
Survived the first couple of days and had two off before going back for the last four. Hardly got anything done on the two days off. Why? 'Cuz I just got back from war and was still completely beat up and tiered from that.
And I thought I was being all responsible and stuff by leaving war a day early so that I'd have a day of rest and a day of prep. Good thing I left early.
After that the shoot was smooth. Although I got really bored whenever we weren't actually shooting. 12 hr days are HARD if you AREN'T GETTING PAID. It's really hard to give 110% then. But I don't slack on my job, but I'm not exactly going to go out of my way to shlup heavy stuff around.
Now, this really only applies to student shoots. I'm going to be working on a professional spec thing the next couple of weekends. I'm stoked about it.
I'm kinda under the weather at the moment though. It's hard to take good care of your self and eat right and all that jazz when you're on set for 12 hrs. Even if a lot of that time is waiting. I'm sure I'll get it all straightened out.
Supposedly the SAG drama should be over in the next week or so and productions will be going into final prep mode.
With some providence I'll be landing one of those jobs in the next couple of weeks.
